Bloodless Surgery Program

The Pediatric Cardiac Center strives to minimize the transfusion of blood and blood products in every patient with congenital heart disease. We discuss the risk of transfusion with each family and work to determine the best approach to minimize the risk for transfusion. We also work closely with the local Jehovah’s Witness hospital liaison to address the concerns of this patient population.
